Travel has always been an important teaching and personal learning tool throughout my 31 years as a history teacher and department head, and during my years since retirement. In addition to traveling extensively with students, I also took a year in the middle of my career to experience a teaching exchange in Nottinghamshire, England, and, after retirement, spent 3 ½ years teaching at Canadian College Italy in Lanciano, in the Abruzzo Region of Italy. In fact, my belief in the importance of travel to an individual’s development at all stages of his life is best reflected in St Augustine’s quote, “The world is a book, and he who does not travel reads only a page.” Since 2005, it has been my good fortune to be part of the Ellison Travel & Tours team working as a tour manager, in sales, and as an itinerary developer. During that time, in my role as tour manager, I have been part of more than 30 European tours, accompanying both student and adult groups. My travels as a teacher and tour manager, have taken me to many locations in North America, but my area of concentration has been primarily Europe, including Italy, France, Great Britain, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain and most recently, Turkey, which has begun to open Asia to me. During that time, I have become familiar with all the major cities of the countries mentioned and have become increasingly involved in battle tours, featuring the major sites of conflict involving Canadians in World Wars I and II. Whether it be a student or adult tour, I look forward to assisting you in the development of a tour that best suits the needs of your group, or to accompanying you as a tour manager, to help make your experience an unforgettable one. |

| Comments from my clients: |
| France & Spain: "I just wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous trip! Everything was great and both the chaperones and the students had a wonderful time! It was so nice to have such a well organized and yet flexible tour. Our guide, Mak, was awesome! What a great guy - he is excellent! I will definitely book all my future school trips through Ellison. I can't tell you how different (in a good way) this tour was compared to my last tour organized through a different agency. Thank you so much for all of your hard work!" |
